Filed in National by on April 11, 2023 2 Comments

There is no way to deny it.  Trump being brought to justice is a boon for Joe Biden.  Trump’s legal woes have increased his popularity among GOP primary voters, but devastated his favorability among voters in general.

Filed in National by on April 11, 2023 0 Comments

I’m not expert, but it seems like this person (these people?) were not terribly sophisticated.   …Users of the social media site Discord say an administrator of a closed group chat room, or server, called “Thug Shaker Central” posted hundreds of classified documents during arguments over Russia’s Ukraine invasion.  “…clues left online may help investigators […]

Song of the Day 4/11: Bob Dylan, “When I Paint My Masterpiece”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on April 11, 2023 4 Comments

This song ran through my head after a visit to the Vermeer exhibition at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The Dutch master was only 43 when he died in 1675 in Delft, and outside of official records very little is known of his life. He remained admired but obscure until the mid-18th century. He was popularized […]

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on April 10, 2023 0 Comments

Donald Trump has always skated beyond the law’s reach, and this has always been his motto: You don’t stand an outside chance, but you can try. They seem to be trying harder than ever. Stone walls surround me I’m surprised that you even found me Whatever you do girl You know that you can’t get […]

i>This is sickening on many levels.  One of those levels is knowing that  Texas Gov Greg Abbott is Tucker Carlson’s prison bitch.   Of course we now know that Carlson is only pretending to be the prison yard shot caller. In reality Carlson is the braying wingnut mob’s bitch. They’ve set up a self-justifying, internally re-enforcing rubegoldberg contraption of doom.

On this date in 1970 Paul McCartney officially announces the split of The Beatles. And on April 10th 1869 Congress increases number of Supreme Court judges from 7 to 9.

Poll Results – DL Readers and Lurkers REALLY want Trump to be the GOP’s nominee

Filed in National by on April 9, 2023 4 Comments

It was a blow out.  57% in favor of Trump being the nominee.   His loser credentials are undeniable.  He is immensely unpopular.  He is extremely polarizing.  He is a transparent fraud.  And his criminal past is (at long last) catching up with him.   He makes the race entirely about his sore-loser, butthurt idiocy.  He gives voters a stark choice between continuing as a democracy or not.

Of course Democrats want to run against Trump.   PLEASE make it so, Republicans.

Song of the Day 4/9: The Swan Silvertones, “Oh Mary Don’t You Weep”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on April 9, 2023 1 Comment

The Swan Silvertones were one of the seminal gospel groups of the 1940s and ’50s. “Oh Mary Don’t You Weep” dates from antebellum times, when slaves sang spirituals with coded messages of hope for freedom. Claude Jeter’s ad-lib, “I’ll be your bridge over deep water if you trust in my name,” inspired Paul Simon’s “Bridge […]
