In one of America's darker moments in its history was the Japanese Internment during World War II. Like Pearl Harbor this month, it took is marking a 70 year anniversary. Here is one of my favorite people, George Takei, speaking to NPR's Robin Young on the program "Here and Now."

Gay Republican Groups Accept Second Class Citizenship & Defend Newt

Two prominent gay Republican groups have defended Newt Gingrich's decision to turn away voters who support same-sex marriage.
After the video of the interaction surfaced, the Log Cabin Republicans issued a statement defending the candidate: Based on his stated opposition to same-sex marriage, Newt ultimately concedes that he is not likely to win this particular voter’s support. It is irresponsible and sensationalist to twist this exchange into a blanket rejection of gay votes.
So...If gays are narrowly focused on having the same kinds of rights as straight people, gay Republicans agree that they should not vote for Newt. If they want to hate on Mexicans more than they want to see loved ones in he hospital, then Newt is your man.

It's a time-honored tradition at Navy homecomings that a lucky sailor is chosen from the crew to be first off the ship for the long-awaited kiss with a loved one. On Wednesday, for the first time ever, the happily reunited couple was gay. Petty Officer 2nd Class Marissa Gaeta, left, kisses her girlfriend of two years, Petty Officer 3rd Class Citlalic Snell, at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek in Virginia Beach, after Gaeta's ship returned from 80 days at sea.

For the Second Night of Chanukah

I think I mentioned it last year, but Chanukah is typical of quite a few Jewish holidays - they tried to kill us, we won, let's eat. Tonight's video is the smash hit from last year by the Maccabeats, the acapella group from Yeshiva University in New York.

Traitor

At the same time Tom Carper was the supposed Public Option champion in the Senate, he was telling hedge fund investors that, no worries, he would kill it, so invest in private companies.
