Media scolds yesterday chided Joe Biden for flying Air Force One to Delaware to — sit down now — vote in Tuesday’s primaries. “But, but, but he could have voted absentee!” Well, yes, but remember, he’s accustomed to Delaware election rules, and until Covid Delaware had the tightest restrictions in the country on who could […]
Overthinking The Results
Random musings as I prepare to head out to Portland for a (very) few days of R & R: The campaigns for Becca Cotto and Shane Darby were the two best this cycle. Both candidates are awesome, and both candidates will be back. Over 2700 voters came out for the Cotto-Heffernan race. That’s in-SANE. Becca […]
Song of the Day 9/14: Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, “The Tears of a Clown”
Colin Bonini always reminded me of a clown. Not figuratively, literally. He’s a large man — his everyday shoes are clown-sized — but his smile isn’t painted on, it’s real. All he lacks is a squirting flower in his lapel. Bonini is an old-fashioned conservative who believes that taxes are too high because government spends […]

The whole “leave it up to the states” was pure bullshit from the get go. SEN. GRAHAM: “I look forward to the debate. I look forward to the vote. If we take back the house and the Senate I can assure you, we’ll have a vote on our bill. If the Democrats are in charge, […]
Voters Smack Down Schwartzkopf/McGuiness
Lydia York defeated the convicted state auditor by a roughly 2 to 1 margin. In addition to being a referendum on not having convicted criminals hold public office, this vote is widely seen as a repudiation of Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf who was a tenacious supporter of the convicted auditor.
Many believe that Schwartzkopf will be forced out of the leadership by his party caucus in a few weeks time.
Primary Day Results ‘Rejoicing And Recriminations’ Thread
Polls have just closed. It’s up to the Department of Elections now. In recent years, Zero Hour has been somewhere around 9:30. That’s when the results have proceeded from a trickle to a gullywasher. Maybe, just maybe, with a slimmer slate of races and more people taking advantage of early voting, we’ll know more earlier. […]
Song of the Day 9/13: Chase, “Get It On”
The early ’70s were great times for horn players who wanted to be rock ‘n’ rollers. Jazz was shrinking, and though soul revues often featured horn sections, guitars ruled rock, pretty much to the exclusion of everything else but keyboards and other rhythm instruments. That started to change in 1967, when Al Kooper and Steve […]
Primary Day Reactions / “I Voted” Thread
We don’t have Allan Loudell driving around keeping us informed anymore, so it falls to us to report any any polling places comings and goings here.

All kinds of Trump news. He flew to DC in his golf threads and had some kind of mafioso meeting on a golf course to discuss some mafioso shit. And this… Over 30 Trump associates subpoenaed by grand jury over alleged efforts to influence 2020 election results Russia getting beaten so bad that GOP support […]
Delaware Registration Gyrations Deep Dive – Coming Soon
When I was looking at why Sarah McBride will defeat Tom Carper and thereby be our next US Senator, all of the posts casually assumed that McBride would easily win in the general election. I take it as a given that the Democratic Primary is the election for statewide offices, and the moribund Delaware GOP […]
MANDALORIANS PARTY Registration Surging in DE
“Mandalorians” as party ID in Delaware has surged from 16 in January to 34 today. That’s a 112.5% increase.
Song of the Day 9/12: Midlake, “Roscoe”
Guest post by Nathan Arizona Is Roscoe a productive name, as the Texas band Midlake would have it? And what the heck is an occupanther? Was “Roscoe” one of the 100 best songs of the 2000s, as Rolling Stone says? One of the best of 2006, as Pitchfork calls it? Or does it sound like […]

Tomorrow is the day. If the dire predictions for York come to pass, this comment from Albey will be the coda. “He didn’t even know KMG has legal issues.” This isn’t surprising. Delaware has no TV stations for local news. The newspaper’s circulation is about 20% of what it was 20 years ago. Where would […]
