Filed in National by on January 8, 2022 2 Comments

What’s the missing ingredient in the Delaware left? I agree with Rob that it is a killer instinct.

I already listened this episode of the Highlands Bunker, but I’m revisiting it this weekend. If you a an incorrigible lefty like me, it is really worth a listen.

Highlands Bunker

Delaware Call Editor Emeritus Jordan Howell joins Rob and Karl in the bunker to sum up the year by talking about media criticism, the effectiveness of confrontational organizing, and Twitter’s new favorite movie Don’t Look Up.

Many Dummies and Centrist Dems Buy into the Idea that “Good Republicans” Are a Thing

Filed in National by on January 8, 2022 0 Comments

Praising “good Republicans” is a popular pastime among media and Dem elites. The Good Republicans Political journalists are forever promoting the supposed “good Republicans,” who weirdly, are always, at least in the telling, BARELY LIKE REPUBLICANS AT ALL. In fact, their “goodness” is usually ways in which they are actually like Democrats, who themselves are […]

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary!

January 7th is the one year anniversary of my peak optimism! I honestly and foolishly thought that Republicans would be able to shake off Trump once and for all after the failed coup.

Biden’s Speech, Annotated.  He realizes how much jeopardy democracy is in.  This was an essential rallying cry.  How Biden Decided To Directly Confront Trump: Throughout the first year of Joe Biden’s presidency, Donald Trump was the name that must not be spoken. Inside the White House, meanwhile, the president and his team strategized about when […]

Some reporters, like Frank Farenthold, are especially skilled at deciphering financial ledgers and the like.  That’s not my strength. Although–I’ve gotten better.  Sufficiently better so that I can share some nuggets from the year-end financial reports that have already been uploaded, with many more to come.  Here’s some interesting stuff I’ve uncovered: 1. Sore loser […]

Breaking: Coons Calls Biden “Dagger to the Neck” Remark Unfortunate

In a statement Coons expressed disappointment for what he termed Biden’s “ill-timed and divisive” rhetoric.  “This is not the time to …and Chris he didn’t say anything like that but with everything we know about Coons, it was really believable.

Frankly I think it speaks volumes about the Senator’s character that so many people who read this headline found it totally plausible.

Song of the Day 1/6: The O’Jays, “Back Stabbers”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on January 6, 2022 1 Comment

This 1972 song put the O’Jays on the charts, and helped Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff’s Sound of Philadelphia depose Motown at the top of the soul/R&B charts. There’s a reason the trio looks so polished in this Soul Train clip. The group, originally a quintet, formed way back in 1958 in Canton, Ohio. They […]

Chris Coons Is a Battered Woman

Filed in Coons, National by on January 6, 2022 3 Comments

No, I don’t mean he’s been dipped in buttermilk and deep-fried. I mean he has a form of PTSD from being continually abused — in his case not by a spouse, but by Republicans, the kind who referred to him as a “bearded Marxist.” See if these symptoms (from the Wikipedia entry on battered spouse […]

MAGAts Call Trump A Wuss.  What kind of would-be insurrectionist doesn’t rally his supporters in their time of need?: Edward Jacob Lang, a 25-year-old from upstate New York charged with assaulting a police officer with a bat, made his last-ditch, Trump-focused cry for help during a Wednesday evening interview with far-right personality Stew Peters. “You […]

Chris Coons Refuses to Blame his Beloved Republicans for Jan 6th

When people ask me why I have such a problem with Chris Coons, it is stuff like this.  Blaming Democrats and Republicans equally for the “division” leading to the Jan 6th riots. Too often in recent years, we have chosen division. Now, we must choose to heal and strengthen our democracy, and lay the groundwork […]

One year later – how do you feel about democracy in America?

See the poll on the right side of the page. I’m curious to know what you guys think. But a little more curious to know if anyone on the bleaker side of the question thinks there is anything we can do to save it.

Coons Helped Trump Appoint Crank Judges Who Are Attacking Biden’s Ability to Govern

Filed in National by on January 6, 2022 0 Comments

Thanks Coons! The reactionary hacks Republicans have nominated to lower federal courts have been overrunning Biden administration policy with no serious legal basis. One obvious reason they’re doing this is that they know the Court that is theoretically in charge of enforcing its own precedents isn’t going to do anything about it:
