Prediction Thread For Tonight’s Republican Debate

Filed in National by on January 7, 2012 15 Comments

Expectations are high for tonight’s debate, so let’s discuss what might happen. Amazingly, tonight looks like it may be the first time the frontrunner, Romney, faces serious attack. Not sure why he was given a pass until now, and even with the field suddenly realizing they’ve given Romney the advantage, it may be too late to derail what they created. With that said, here’s what I’m looking (hoping?) for:

Question

Filed in National by on January 6, 2012 7 Comments

Can Santorum be the Not-Romney candidate? Can he seriously become viable? I honestly don’t know. Here’s what I do know. The GOP base is desperate for anyone but Romney – and I’m beginning to feel they’d rather say President Obama than President Romney. But can Santorum be turned into a viable candidate?

Confession: In the back of my mind, I keep thinking that the Conservative money men are searching for a way to get Perry into the race again. Not sure if that’s even possible, but he’s always been their guy. Sorry, just can’t shake this feeling.

Rick Santorum VS Contraception

Filed in National by on January 4, 2012 7 Comments

Now that Rick Santorum has won the Iowa Caucus – Yes.  He really did. – let’s give his craziness some attention.  BTW, have I mentioned how much I love this Republican nightmare? Via Think Progress: Rick Santorum reiterated his belief that states should have the right to outlaw contraception during an interview with ABC News […]

Caucus Thoughts, Or… When A Win Isn’t Really A Win

Filed in National by on January 4, 2012 11 Comments

Last night was another win for Not-Romney. Honestly, I almost think it would have been better for Romney to have lost by 8 votes – yes, that’s debatable. But let’s move on to future Romney woes…

Virginia GOP Officially Becomes Autocratic

Filed in National by on December 29, 2011 4 Comments

I always love hearing the Fatman and that other RWNJ on WDEL spout off about how Democrats and Liberals are nothing but a bunch of socialists and “fellow travelers.” Apparently they haven’t been paying attention to the Virginia Republican Party.

The Virginia GOP has declared that anyone who wants to vote in the Presidential primary must sign a loyalty oath. Yes, you read that correctly, you must swear allegiance to the GOP and cross your heart and hope to die that you will vote for whomever the GOP presidential nominee is.

So Much for Checks and Balances

Filed in National by on December 18, 2011 41 Comments

Apparently Newt Gingrich doesn’t believe in our system of checks and balances. Continuing his crusade against the courts, Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich railed against judges “imposing secularism” on the country on this morning’s Face The Nation. Arguing that “activist judges” who make disagreeable decisions should be held accountable before Congress, he told Bob Schieffer […]

I Almost Forgot… There’s A Republican Presidential Primary Debate Tonight

Filed in National by on May 5, 2011 6 Comments

Here’s the line-up: Herman Cain, former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza Gary Johnson, former Governor of New Mexico Ron Paul, U.S. Representative from Texas Tim Pawlenty, former Governor of Minnesota Rick Santorum, former Senator from Pennsylvania That’s quite a cast of characters.  And from where I’m sitting only one, Tim Pawlenty, has a chance at winning […]
