Republican Primaries 21% Problem

Filed in National by on June 17, 2009 47 Comments

According to FairVote.org 25 states hold closed Republican Primaries.  That’s 25 states where the GOP 21%ers can rule the day by choosing the candidate. Moderate Republicans should be concerned because these numbers give candidates like Sarah Palin the edge.  Actually, all of us should be concerned.  Food for thought.

USAToday covers a Gallup poll in which Americans were asked who speaks for the GOP. A majority of Americans couldn’t name anyone. A 52% majority of those surveyed couldn’t come up with a name when asked to specify “the main person” who speaks for Republicans today. Of those who could, the top response was radio […]

Tone Deaf or Payoff?

Filed in Delaware by on May 22, 2009 40 Comments

There are rumors swirling around the Delaware Republican Party that they have a new communication team.  This is the team that will be tasked with redefining the tarnished brand that is “Republican” and to reframe the debate into something that will resonate with Delaware voters.  Quite a task. Who is up for a job like […]

Gallup: Republicans Are Tanking

Filed in National by on May 19, 2009 49 Comments

There are new poll results out from Gallup about partisan identification, and it’s not good news for Republicans. The decline in Republican Party affiliation among Americans in recent years is well documented, but a Gallup analysis now shows that this movement away from the GOP has occurred among nearly every major demographic subgroup. Since the […]

Obviously Words Matter

There’s been a lot of talk over taking people at their word, and when it comes to words no one is better at hijacking them then Conservatives.  Patriot springs to mind, as does family values, life, Judeo-Christian laws, regiment, battle, defense of marriage, and take back America.  Let’s just say when I stumble on a […]

The Incredible Shrinking Republican Woman

Filed in National by on May 11, 2009 15 Comments

Seems like a no-brainer to me, especially given what you see on display at nearly every Republican event/press conference/news show.  Lot’s of old white guys.  Where are the Republican women? Of course, there are fewer Republicans than Democrats of either gender in the two houses. But even on a percentage basis, Republicans suffer a gender […]

Fatal Attraction – Republican Style

Rule #1 when having an affair is to never let the wife find out about the mistress.  Silly, because it rarely works out that way – especially if your mistress is a crazy person intent on destroying your marriage.  That said, shame on you for juggling love interests, and shame on you for whispering sweet, […]

Will Republican Leaders Listen To Republicans

Filed in National by on March 17, 2009 5 Comments

Greg Sargent points out the trend.  Republicans aren’t happy with their Republican leaders. The approval rating of GOP leaders among Republicans has plummeted 12 points in a month, down from 55% in February to a minority of 43% now. That’s striking. Not only that, but approval of GOP leaders overall has dropped to 28% overall […]
