Salon’s Glenn Greenwald

….In Delaware, it was widely speculated that Joe Biden would be replaced by his son, Beau, and after Beau took his name out of the running because he’s now serving in Iraq, the naming of the actual replacement — lone-time (Joe) Biden aide Ted Kaufmann — “upset local Democrats who believe the move was a ham-handed attempt to engineer the election of Biden’s son, Beau, to the Senate in 2010.”

Good thing we are a Democracy and not an Aristocracy huh? Man I wish he would look a little closer at Delaware. Glenn how about you and Josh Marshall shine a light over here for about a month. You will be freaking amazed man, amazed! I’ll buy you a beer. I’m the sort of guy you’ll want to have one with.

I don’t know if I completely agree with what Glenn wrote. I think it was widely speculated in Democratic circles in the nation that Beau would be appointed to the seat, but not as much in Delaware. I think the speculation focused more on Carney than on Biden, because we knew he was going to Iraq? Do I have that wrong?
