Don’t get ahead of yourself…DIVISION champs. Yet, this was absolutely poetic. I actually felt good for Pennington.

Point to add: It was almost more entertaining than the blowout to watch the Cowboy players blow UP on the sidelines.

Point to add: Did Romo cry AGAIN on the field after that last turnover?

  3. Delaware Dem says:

Hahahaha. Miami loses to Baltimore in the first round.

I actually do foresee a Philadelphia-Baltimore Super Bowl.

Carolina scares the bejeebus out of me, provided either get as far as the Conf Championship.

As a Pats hater (my 11YO is a Pats fan), I am conflicted to say this:

It is an abomination that an 8-8 team gets in and an 11-5 team doesn’t.

That said, I won a buck from the little guy. Both in/both out was a push. If either team got in and the other didn’t, a dollar would be exchanged. I did a little happy dance around the house over that one.

  6. arthur says:

I dont care if Miami looses first round. the past several years have been terrible for us fins fans. the turn around was a great start in rebuilding. the next couple years will be tough, but it will be better soon!

  7. nemski says:

As much as I dislike Reid, I’ll defer to better football minds like Jimmy Johnson and Troy Aikman. Reid is one of the best coaches in the NFL.

  8. liberalgeek says:

    Yeah, but you love Leiberman…

  9. MJ says:

The Broncos need to fire Shanahan. Talk about choking – they looked like the Cubs with shoulder pads.

  10. nemski says:

Yeah, but you love Leiberman …

DD has the round ’em up and shoot ’em and I have Lieberman. What awful crosses to bear.

  11. Randy Nelson says:

The Jets fired Eric Mangini this morning after finishing 9-7 and losing four of their last five games. Here’s my problem with the move. Mangini didn’t bring an old and battered Bret Favre to NY. The GM did. Mangini didn’t trade Pennington, who put up better numbers than Favre. The GM did, with the owners’ approval. The Jets made a personnel mistake in bringing on Favre for one season. GM Mike Tannenbaum should go, too.

Baltimore, Philly, Indy and Arizona win in the first round.

  12. RSmitty says:

    ‘Zona beats the Falcons? Hmm…

That line did pull even during the day, though. That game, I think, will be the toughest pick of the opening round, with Philly-Min being the next hardest to pick. Philly’s two biggest concerns on defense are part of Min’s features on offense – Adrian Peterson (RB) and Visanthe Shiancoe (TE). While MIN does have Bernard Berrian, PHI shouldn’t need to worry about deep threats too much with Tarvaris Jackson as MIN’s QB. That guy doesn’t know how to throw to anyone but Shiancoe, the TE. Hmm…I wonder if Terrell Owens has been in contact with Berrian about that injustice.

My surest thought lays with BAL and IND next. Something about the Chargers just makes me pause. Another point is every team but one that played SD this year had a TE just roll all over them. That one team to not roll up big TE numbers was IND who happens to have one of the top TE in the game in Dallas Clark. Go figure.

On a closing note, enjoy this article.

  13. RSmitty says:

    Today’s firings:
    Crennel (CLE)
    Marinelli (DET)
    Mangini (NYJ)

OMG, Parcells may be leaving yet another team…the freaking Larry Brown of the NFL!

Ah, the egomaniac, Favre setting the stage to hold yet another team hostage this off-season.

  14. nemski says:

It was a sad night in the nemski household. My eleven year-old boy, a Dallas fan thanks to T.O., was crying buckets of tears.

  15. liberalgeek says:

    Nemski – isn’t that a great feeling?

  16. nemski says:

LOL . . . it might also have been a combination of being exhausted from Christmas, two sleepover nights in a row, a devastating loss to the Eagles, and his parents telling him his grandmother (who lives with us) is dying of cancer.

Its odd, because as much as I hated that he became a Cowboy fan, now more than ever, I want him to continue to be a Cowboy fan. And as his father, I’ll help him in that.

  17. liberalgeek says:

Sorry to hear about the Mother-in-law. As for encouraging your son…

I am often accused of child-abuse (mostly by my family with 2 season ticket-holders) for allowing my son to be a Patriots fan. I always say that it could have been worse, he could have been a Cowboys fan.

Just for fun, when the playoff games start next week, spend a few minutes frantically searching through the TV listings in front of your son. When he asks what you are looking for, tell him that you can’t seem to figure out what channel the Cowboys game is on…

  18. RSmitty says:

Dude, sorry to hear about the sad news, too.

On a brighter note: Dallas Cowboys! 😆

A co-worker who is a die-hard Dallas fan got a “Dirty Santa” gift that he just unveiled today. He got a kaleidoscope. I asked him (with audience) if looking through that while turning it actually made the Cowboys get into the playoffs. God, I love having the opportunity to raz their fans!!!

  19. nemski says:

That would be fun activity, maybe he’ll recover by then.

As for my mother-in-law, it is sad, but, you know, when you smoke two packs of cigarettes a day from 1950 to 2005 what can you expect. She’s a lovely lady and my hope that the end is quick, no one deserves to suffer.

  20. anon says:

The Lions, Bengals and Browns should be folded- being a fan of those teams has to be hazardous to your health!

  21. I’m sure you will BUT keep an eye on him. I bet it is going to be hard on him, espeically a live in grandparent.

I know a good therapist if you think he needs to talk to someone.

LOL, but I’ve read your posts. 😉

On a more serious note, thanks for your concern.
