NPR Destroys Republican Talking Point

Filed in National by on February 25, 2010 11 Comments

The media coverage of the health care reform debate has been quite frustrating because the coverage has not covered the substance of the debate. It’s been the typical “on one hand, on the other hand” type of coverage which has allowed Republicans to get away with telling outrageous lies about health care reform (death panels!!!!). […]

In Cheney’s mind, he’s a courageous patriot who’s not afraid to get things done. Cheney thinks that terrorists will be scared of the U.S. if only we’d torture more and the only way to get info is to throw accused terrorists (some of whom may be actually innocent) into Guantanamo (which has special terrorist repellant […]

The Slavery Apology

Filed in National by on February 24, 2010 63 Comments

What happened before does have an affect on what is now. We fought a civil war to end slavery and hundreds of thousands died in that effort. The civil rights movement 100 years later ended overt state discrimination. And 60 years later we have elected ourselves our first black President. That is progress. And I tend to think righting the wrong is an inherent apology in and of itself. That’s Our Castle

Filed in National by on February 24, 2010 7 Comments

Castle flip flops on the jobs bill, again, and now he has come out against the filibuster in the Senate. If Mike Castle were a real leader following his principles, he would immediately call on his supposedly future Senate Republican brethren to end their unprecedented obstructionism. I say, if he were a real leader with principles….

John McCain is facing a competitive Republican primary for his U.S. Senate seat. He’s facing wingnut former Rep. J.D. Hayworth and even wingnuttier Sheriff Joe Arpaio. A Miscarriage Of Justice

Filed in National by on February 23, 2010 14 Comments

Utah’s proposed legislation is hardly surprising since we already knew the pro-life movement is all about controlling and punishing women. A bill passed by the Utah House and Senate this week and waiting for the governor’s signature, will make it a crime for a woman to have a miscarriage…. In addition to criminalizing an intentional […]

The Goldilocks Health Care Bill

Filed in National by on February 23, 2010 4 Comments

First the health care bill was too long… A spokesman for House Minority Leader John Boehner today ridiculed President Obama’s health care proposal because it’s too short. “The White House’s ‘plan’ consists of an 11-page outline, which has not been scored by the Congressional Budget Office or posted online as legislative text. So they want […]
