More Fisker Follies
I’m a bit concerned that any state official could have been “stunned” that Fisker was waffling. I’m troubled that Alan Levin, the director of the Delaware Economic Development Office, was “shocked”. The article goes on to interview more politicos who talk about phone calls they are making. But more importantly, TNJ talks to some of the would-be workers who are affected.
So as Fisker holds a gun to the head of the State of Delaware demanding that federal loans be released earlier, what is/was Plan B for Boxwood? Did we put all our eggs in one basket and hope for the best? Or does Delaware have alternative plans to get these auto workers back to work?
This is How Republican Sheriffs End Up
A former elected Republican sheriff in Colorado was sentenced to 30 days in jail for possession of meth. And this one even had arrest powers. Maybe it’s better that they end up behind bars for meth instead of advocating sedition.
Kooky Talk in Sussex
Well, it must be Spring because it seems as though more crazy talk is filling the airwaves than usual. We now get to listen to Matt Walsh on WGMD in the evenings. Walsh was a DJ on 93.5 “The Beach,” until they tired of him and his nonsense. In 2010, he ran for mayor of Georgetown and took a whopping 25 votes out of the 455 cast. Yes, he took 5.5% of the vote. He probably got his butt kicked because instead of talking about issues that would affect the average Georgetown resident, he squawked about the Second Amendment, health care reform, and illegal aliens. Yeah, those would be my top choices if I was running for municipal office.
Well, tonight on his show, Walsh decided to talk about President Obama’s birth certificate. Or as he put it, his alleged birth certificate. He started off by saying “I’m not a birther, but……..”
Ask Dr. Liberal – Here Comes The Judge, Here Comes the Judge!
Dear Dr. Liberal,
Contracts for the proposition “The US Supreme Court to rule individual mandate unconstitutional before midnight ET 31 Dec 2012″ are now trading at 62.6% on intrade. Should I take the money I was going to use to by a Fisker electric car and buy some of the activist judge futures?
Yours Truly,
Eternally Combustible

“Nobody thinks Romney’s going to win. Let’s just be honest. Can we just say this for everybody at home? Let me just say this for everybody at home. The Republican establishment — I’ve yet to meet a single person in the Republican establishment that thinks Mitt Romney is going to win the general election this year. They won’t say it on TV because they’ve got to go on TV and they don’t want people writing them nasty emails. I obviously don’t care. But I have yet to meet anybody in the Republican establishment that worked for George W. Bush, that works in the Republican congress, that worked for Ronald Reagan that thinks Mitt Romney is going to win the general election.” — Joe Scarborough, on Morning Joe.
Your Tax Dollars At Waste, Courtesy of Tony DeLuca
If you have forgotten this piece of essential reading, shame on you! Actually, let me lead you through the gist of it:
Aided and abetted by a former deputy attorney general by the name of Linda Carmichael, who may or may not have ever cracked a law book, (Tony) DeLuca has arbitrarily made rulings in prevailing wage cases that have cost contractors tens of thousands of dollars.
Romney’s War On (Obama’s) Religion
Romney has a religion problem and he knows it. 22% of voters are ignorant bigots who are disinclined to vote for a Mormon. So what does Team Romney plan to do about it? They are going to turn Obama into something even worse than a Mormon, they are going to make Obama the atheist in the race.
Lawrence O’Donnell broke it down brilliantly last night and this segment is worth sitting through the mandatory 15 second commercial:
That’s What She Said (Part II)
One of the best places for hard-hitting political news is on “The View”. So it should be of no surprise to South Caroline Governor Nikki Haley that she got grilled by some of the best in the business: Barbara Walters, Joyce Behar, Whoopi Goldberg and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Mediaite writes: She wanted to know about Haley’s […]
General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Weds., April 4, 2012
So much for that 2-week meme about the R’s taking over the Delaware State Senate. Admittedly aided and abetted by moi. Just as Sen. Margaret Rose Henry’s switch from R to D swiftly ended then-Sen. Myrna Bair’s publicly-proclaimed dream of becoming Delaware’s first female President Pro-Tem, Sen. Liane Sorenson’s announcement that she would not seek reelection did the same to Sen. Gary Simpson’s. Even if Rep. Mike Ramone jumps into the race, Dave Sokola will almost certainly win, and Ramone’s House seat will flip to the D’s. If Ramone values his legislative pension, he will likely stay right where he is.
Sorenson has been described as a moderate, and she certainly is in the mode of a Rockefeller Republican. However, I think she’s more of a progressive than a moderate, and she hasn’t hesitated to support causes that may not be popular with Republican constituencies. The fact that two of Delaware’s very best were tonymandered together is a significant loss to the legislature and the citizens of this state. The state is far better off b/c Liane Sorenson chose to dedicate herself to public service. Jack Markell would do well to ensure that Liane’s public service career continues. We cannot afford to lose people like her.
Biff Lee, eh, not so much. But he too announced his retirement yesterday. He used to be a state cop. He used to be in leadership, and now he’s a back-bencher. And he put in 22 years. That’s about it.
Live Long….
I think one of the reasons I like President Obama so much is that he is a geek, a sci-fi geek, a Trekkie, just like me. Look at that perfect Vulcan salute.
Fmr. Senator Ted Kaufman to Address PDD Meeting Tonight
Former Senator Ted Kaufman, who replaced Vice President Biden in the Senate in early 2009, and who became a key figure in the push to reform Wall Street and the financial services system in 2009 and 2010, will be a special guest tomorrow at the monthly meeting of the Progressive Democrats for Delaware. Also speaking at tomorrow’s meeting will be Bryan Townsend, who is challenging Senator Tony DeLuca in the Democratic primary in the 11th SD.
Laws Affect People, Not Abstract Concepts
Hi DL. I’m Mrs. XStryker. Some of you know me already. I’m not a very vocal member of this community and in that light I’d like to thank the rest of the contributors for allowing me to post this guest blog. Something has to be done on behalf of women who think this will never happen to them. I know I was certainly one of them.
