NCC Council Approves Height Limits On Landfills.  The vote was unanimous, with two abstentions. A tip of the sombrero to Matt Meyer and to Council. It’s about time someone, anyone, challenged Delaware’s casual environmental racism. Couldn’t find out who abstained on the County website. Who were the two miscreants? Nancy, were you there? Trump Moves […]

Team Biden Stoops to New Low

Filed in National by on August 27, 2019 2 Comments

Hot on the heels of Dr. Jill telling America that Joe might not be the best candidate but people should vote for him anyway, Team Biden has released a campaign ad that pretty much proves he’s not the best candidate. In the interest of attacking Medicare for All, Biden says health care is very important […]

Your Liberal Media – Andrea Mitchell Edition

To inoculate himself against charges of fucking up disaster relief like he has fucked up everything else, Trump tweeted the throughly debunked lie that “Congress approved 92 Billion Dollars for Puerto Rico last year, an all time record of its kind for ‘anywhere’.” Complete bullshit.  And yet,  MSNBC anchor (and wife of former Federal Reserve […]

Where are we with cannabis in Delaware?

Where are we with cannabis in Delaware?

I’m seriously asking. Has it been legalized? I don’t partake, so I don’t pay very close attention to this, but I know some people who are very unguarded about their cannabis use.

Of course, they are white and as John Mulaney says, pot has been legal for white people for a while. What about for the rest of Delaware? It is time to get the bong pipe out and roll up a doobie?

NCC Executive Matt Meyer Is…An Environmentalist

Filed in Delaware by on August 27, 2019 5 Comments

What a literal breath of fresh air. His op-ed in the News-Journal outlines an aggressive environmental agenda, including the following: Better water quality, prohibiting new major developments on septic systems Greater forest conservation and tree planting Improved management of community open spaces Reduced carbon emissions through energy efficiency and solar, wind and geothermal energy production on commercial […]

Yes, Yes, Yes! Chris Johnson Appointed To Wilmington City Council…

Filed in Delaware, Featured by on August 27, 2019 2 Comments

…well, not quite. Council will hold a formal vote on Thursday.   But council members who interviewed three candidates have forwarded Johnson’s name to the entire council for confirmation.  I can’t think of a single individual in the entire city who I would rather see on council. On issues such as economic justice, criminal justice, […]

Delaware’s Unclaimed Property Czar Is…Brenda Mayrack.  Ya gotta admit, this is one of the greatest money-raising gimmicks any state has ever come up with.  It’s really too bad that Mayrack was such a bad candidate–she would have been an outstanding auditor. “Nighty-night. Don’t Let The Bedbugs Bite.” I don’t generally post directly from Daily Kos, […]

Delaware Forces Teachers to Supply Their Own Classrooms

Delaware teacher’s pay over $500 each year for the tools they need to do their job. Meanwhile property tax assessments haven’t been adjusted since 1974 in Sussex and 1980 in Kent and New Castle.

La línea muy temprana de noviembre de 2020 (The VERY early line for November 2020)

SD13/New Castle David MCBRIDE (D)
NRA culo chico.

REP DIST 26/New Castle John VIOLA (D)
Esa es otra D Hold. ¿A que final? ¿Quién sabe?

PRESIDENT OF COUNTY COUNCIL/New Castle Karen HARTLEY-NAGLE (D)

COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT 7/New Castle George SMILEY (D)
Yuck. D Hold

COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT 10/New Castle Jea STREET (D)
Hombre, estoy realmente perdido. D Hold

COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT 11/New Castle D-David TACKETT (D)
D Hold

COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT 12/New Castle N D-William BELL (D)
D Hold

The Box Score

When Biden is out, who will pick up the (always wrong) DC insider’s vote?

When Biden is out, who will pick up the (always wrong) DC insider’s vote?

This just in… Joe Biden promises he isn’t losing it. “I want to be clear, I’m not going nuts,” the former vice president said during a campaign event in New Hampshire. “I’m not sure whether it was the medical school or where the hell I spoke. But it was on the campus.” It’s gotten to […]

Song of the Day 8/26: Elvis Costello, “Watch Your Step”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on August 26, 2019 1 Comment

“Trust,” released in 1981, is one of Elvis Costello’s under-appreciated efforts, mostly remembered only for “Clubland.” I always liked this track, with its understated air of menace, Costello’s vague but witty wordplay and Steve Nieve’s soulful organ fills. If you have any idea what the lyrics actually refer to, drop a line in the comments. […]

Seems Gen X Is the Generation That Likes Trump Best

Filed in National by on August 26, 2019 2 Comments

Certain people take great glee in blaming everything on the Boomer generation, but, ironically, it’s not the Boomers who show the least resistance to Trump. From a Monmouth University poll taken last week: Do you think that Trump should be reelected or do you think that it is time to have someone else in office? […]
