Why is Delaware So Terrible at Getting People Vaccinated?
Delaware stinks at getting people vaccinated. Only three states (Maryland, Mississippi, and Kansas) are worse.

The New York Times disagrees with you: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/covid-19-vaccine-doses.html
Middle of the pack, basically, in several metrics.
“Middle of the pack,”
Huzzah!
I registered my mom at Walgreens, the CDC (VAMS), and eventually the Delaware DHSS, site, and it was the last that came through first with an appointment in Wilmington. Register at vaccinerequest.delaware.gov — this URL is impossible to find on any of the vaccine-related pages that are promoted by the state. I don’t even remember how I ran across it! Luckily I saved the URL. Click “get started” and you are taken to a form to fill out.
So I got my 93 yo mom an appoint on Tuesday. I made it late in the day, hoping there might be a dose left over for me that would otherwise go to waste.
Looking forward I got my second shot Friday at FEMA in Dover. It was smooth and the site is set up very well and can accommodate a high volume. I was in and out in 30 minutes 15 of which was post shot observation.
Looking back at the experience I worry about the older portion of us old folks who have technical challenges and mobility challenges. I got registered in the state waiting list 7 minutes after it went on line. nothing. I figured out the Walgreens appointment system and got my first on 1/27 but was not scheduled for # 2 until tomorrow, the 34th day. Thursday I became eligible for #2 at FEMA Dover, the 30th day. I grabbed it then cancelled my Walgreens to make room for someone else.
I see solid progress in the past week or so but we need to help folks across all demographics who face challenges. Equity matters!
Because we have John Carney as Governor. Enough said.
How much better it would be if we had Republican leadership. You can’t fail if you don’t try, amirite?
