So I'm still catching up on the news and watched President Obama speak at a fundraiser in San Francisco. Definitely a red meat speech -- as much as he actually does that -- but it is a great speech specifically calling out the Party of No:

It is a rare thing for the Villagers to turn their attentions to us, and I suppose we should expect more of this in the coming months.

I am always in awe of how astute Jon Stewart and his writers are. This is an astonishingly good takedown of the entire cable culture -- the focus on providing programming and information, bu not necessarily on providing any context (fact-checking, esp) for that information. Indulging themselves in the He Say/She Say without giving you any way of being able to evaluate that info.

Fixing the Unfair Crack vs Cocaine Penalties

Senator Ted Kaufman is one of the co-sponsors of a bill introduced into the full Senate this week (it was voted out of the Judiciary Committee back in July) that would finally take on the incredible disparities in sentencing for those who are convicted of possession of either drug.
