Around the Horn Friday: What Election? Edition
Man, I can’t believe that we are at another special election already. I am getting special election fatigue. And then we have the primaries and caucuses. Damn, I just want to get through Christmas. Kavips hits the issue in the wonderful Around the Horn competitor, Outside the Perimeter. Speaking of Kavips, I cannot get enough […]
When Policy Meets Reality
There have been two revelations in the past week or so that bear some reflection and comparison. Last week, researchers announced that they had figured out a way to make stem cells without embryos. This is good for all of us, as it will keep the abortion/right-to-lifers out of the treatment research for Parkinson’s and […]
Feelin’ the Love – Comic Book Style
Damn, I take a day or two off of serious blogging and Hube misses me. I just looked over at his site and found that he was linking to us in three separate posts. Thanks, Hube. Perhaps I’ll have some time to post on these interesting topics in the near future. I must assume, however, […]
Thank You Mrs. Geek
My wife is wonderful. On Friday night she bailed out on our book club meeting due to a lack of babysitter. So I spent an evening with good wine, good food and good conversation. Then she barely raised an eyebrow when I scored tickets to see Jon Stewart with my brother for his birthday on […]
Delaware Republicans Dogged by Questions
I just came across this dog lovers post about a Delaware Republican fundraiser that raised their ire. Apparently they are auctioning off a puppy (a Black Lab, purportedly). The complaint is that dogs should be placed in loving homes, not just go to the highest bidder. Dog lovers…sic ’em.
Around the Horn Friday: Mmmmm, Uterus Edition
Please let me thank donviti for a tour de force two weeks ago. I, like most of you laughed my ass off. Good show, my friend. Speaking of things that made me laugh, the whole Tommy Little/Frank Sims/IPOD debacle sank even deeper into the gutter last weekend with aTommy Little interview on WGMD. You gotta […]
Good Deed or Are We Trying to Infect Haiti?
I just came across this article at the Washington Times. Delaware is exporting firewood to Haiti in an effort to stem deforestation in the Caribbean nation. Sound like a good deed, eh? Here’s the problem: most states on the east coast have started to put some strict limits on firewood crossing state lines to prevent […]
Delawares Toll on Nearby States
Is anyone else as embarrassed about Delaware’s toll plazas as I am? We really shouldn’t be charging for our tiny stretch of 95 at all.
Training for the War on Christmas
I have been training with my fellow warriors for the past few weeks, crawling under garland barriers, avoiding mistletoe, and lots of reindeer games. I think we are just about ready for our first incursion on Christmas, building up to our assault on SHQ (Santa’s Headquarters) on the 23rd. My only fear is that the […]
Something to Think About
A friend of mine remarked last night that, in light of Cheney’s heart problems yesterday, George Bush was less than a heartbeat away from being President. Think about that for a minute.
