What kind of Democrat are you?
It is very simple.
Type 1) You think that corporations need fewer regulations and lower taxes to thrive. You feel that "a rising tide raises all boats" and that when corporations thrive the economic benefits will eventually be distributed throughout the economy.
Type 2) You think that the government should serve as a check on corporations to ensure that the economic benefits are equitably distributed throughout the society.
I recently spoke to a very earnest Democrat who was a confirmed "Type 1" Democrat. In spite of 30 years of evidence to the contrary, this person is a Clinton voter who thinks that the DJIA is the economy. He/she loathes the mysogyny and racism that the GOP is steeped in, but they've bought into the same economic model that Tom Carper holds so dear.
There are many "Type 1's" out there and 1 v 2 is the fault line that runs through the Democratic Party. Whenever you hear someone talk about "electability" or "pragmatism" or "far-left extremism" it is a smokescreen.

July 29 Open Thread: Democrats Tell Leftists, ‘Don’t Wreck the Party, That’s Our Job’
Inside-the-beltway pundits see Democrats all over the political spectrum winning elections and write that the intra-party warfare is overblown. Those outside the beltway have a clearer view: The neo-liberal "moderates"…
July 28 Open Thread: Facebook Nosedives, and There Is Much Rejoicing
Nothing typifies modern "journalism" better than this attempt to answer the rhetorical question, "Why are people glad that Facebook stock belly-flopped?" If we're going to answer that, how about, "Because…
Why does John Atkins still have all of his guns?
John Atkins is out on a measly $18,000 cash bail. After being re-arrested for stalking the woman he is charged with assaulting in July, John Atkins, tried to contact the woman again on Tuesday.
During all of this malevolence, Atkins has not been required to surrender any of the many guns he frequently brags about owning on social media.
Chris Coons Still Stonewalling Spy Breakfast Questions
It seems like weeks* now since we first learned that Chris Coons' lunatic, over-the-top mania for bipartianship put him in direct contact with 50 Russian operatives at the National Prayer breakfast. Is he going to continue to co-chair the nest of spies breakfast? What did he talk about with his Russian contacts? What state secrets did he reveal between prayers?
