We finally have some new state polls today!! Obama breaks out to substantial leads in Virginia, Colorado, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania; keeps a landslide lead in Maine and New Mexico, and takes a slim lead in North Carolina and Florida, Meanwhile, the national polls show either a tied race, a small lead for Obama or a large lead for Obama. This changes our map just a little bit, as North Carolina moves from Slim Romney to Slim Obama. Otherwise, everything stays the same.

Last night I got polled on the County Executive race. (It was clearly a Clark poll because the possible responses to the question, "How much do you love Paul Clark? ranged from, "A whole lot" to "So gosh-darn much".) Anyway, for the first time in a long time, I said - "I gotto go!" to a pollster. First of all, I did have to go. But I am also at a loss on this one.

This has to end poorly for Romney. He is hemorrhaging support in some key swing states, so he is either going to have to try and continue riding out the pummeling, or he is going to have to disclose his taxes and reveal the sources and purposes of his secret offshore accounts.

For the 64 offices being contested, the Democrats fielded 108 candidates. The Republicans have scrounged together a sad sack collection of .... (wait for it)... twenty-eight.

I'm not a huge fan of Stenny Hoyer, but i love how he takes the GOP to the woodshed on taxes in this statement.

That was the argument they made in 1993 — that we were going to destroy the economy; that deficits were going to explode; that unemployment would skyrocket, and that the stock market would tank....

I am issuing an APB for state polling organizations. It has been two weeks since we had a batch of state polls. We just got a Field Poll out of California, but what we want is polling out of the swing states. In the Gallup poll below, President Obama has a small lead over Mitt Romney, 47% to 45%, in 12 swing states. Across the entire country, the margin doubles to four, 48% to 44%.

Once again, I'll start. We can still look for another strong candidate to emerge in the 1st RD--one with the support of none other than our friend and colleague Mike Matthews himself. While noon today is the deadline for filing, it is not the deadline for withdrawals. There will almost certainly be some over the next few days. There are a lot of intriguing primaries on the docket. I'm gonna try to whittle them down to the "10 Most Fascinating Primaries" in a piece that will appear whenever I finish it. If I ever finish it. We'll talk about all of this on the Al Mascitti Show, this Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on WDEL-1150 Newsradio.

President Obama should announce that it would be a terrible thing indeed if Republican governors poked their own eyes with sharp sticks. "It would be a terrible thing indeed, if a Republican governor poked his own eye with a sharp stick. My administration is strongly opposed to such eye poking among Republican governors." OK, folks, here's where to bring your breaking news, rumors, speculation, etc., as to what will happen by 12 noon Tuesday, the filing deadline for individuals seeking to run in the September primaries and/or the November General Election. Updates from the respective Departments of Election most welcome. As are, of course, releases from announcing candidates. I'll start. Look for another quite credible candidate to get into the 1st RD Democratic primary (the seat being vacated by Dennis P. Williams). Look for a credible candidate to file against Sen. Harris McDowell in the 1st Senatorial District.
