A Delicious Tip

Wall St. Journal and Dow Jones News just reported that Sheldon Adelson has been personally implicated in developing a policy for the providing of prostitutes to high rollers at Las Vegas Sands Macao.

We, Especially Young Men, Are Driving Less

I have witnessed this phenomenon first hand.  When my brother and I turned 16 we couldn't wait to drive - and drive we did.  When my son got his license... shrug.  He didn't want to drive.  Worse, he only drives if I make him.  My nephew is staying with us for the summer.  He's sixteen, and guess what?  He has no interest in driving.

The Polling Report [Fourth of July Edition]

The only change in our map from last week is moving North Carolina from barely Romney to Lean Romney. Otherwise it has been a pretty quiet polling week, as with all other things. Obama leads Romney 310 to 206 with 22 votes tied. And would some please poll Missouri. Not you Rasmussen and We Ask America. Someone reputable.

Most Anticipated Movies of Summer 2012

1. The Dark Knight Rises - Is he good or is he bad? Christian Bale is less an actor than he is a guy who keeps his a-hole persona intact no matter what. 2. Prometheus - Not as good as the original, but what is? 3. The Avengers - I missed this when everyone else saw it, but I have a soft spot for super hero movies other don't start Christian Bale. The President’s Weekly Address and Helping Colorado

This week, the President made his weekly address from Colorado where fires are devastating communities and putting many more at risk. He thanks the firefighters risking their lives to help contain these fires and the volunteers helping those who have lost their homes or are evacuated from them. At the end of this post, I include links to some of the organizations on the ground helping Coloradans to cope with this disaster. Help out if you can.

General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Sat., June 30, 2012

To its credit, the House, as opposed to the shrouded-in-secrecy Senate, has an Agenda. Also to its credit, more specifically, Speaker Gilligan's, the House has already gotten the retirement festivities out of the way. Former Speaker Terry Spence used to futz around for hours on end on June 30, with endless hosannas to retiring House members, said hosannas often sung by (I'm not making this up) an Elvis impersonator. Self-indulgence at its worst. I was working in the Senate at the time, and we used to stew at this turning the 'people's business' into some freak sideshow for two hours every June 30.
