Comment Rescue: Sussex Co. Gov’t to Shut Down until Phillips recovers
Mike Vincent apparently told Vance that the Council will hold no hearings until Vance returns.
Phillips Update
Sussex County Councilman VancePhillips has undergone surgery on his fractured spine, and has limited feeling and movement in his legs, according to a statement from Sussex County spokesman Chip Guy. He apparently shattered the T12 vertebra when he crashed his ultralite aircraft in Virginia. Phillips is in fair condition and is expected to remain in the hospital for at least another week. Further rehabilitation might be necessary, but can be performed closer to home.

Delaware Cattle Call, Fall Edition [2012]
Next week and over the course of the next month, we are going to be highlighting each Representative District and Senate District, to find out about the new districts (since most if not all of the districts have undergone some changes, from minor to major), about which Representatives and Senators are calling it quits in 2012, which are safe, and which are in trouble. One of the reasons we are doing this is because of the seemingly inability of the Republican Party to act like a political party in the state of Delaware. With no candidates or even prospective candidates for Governor, Lt. Governor, Insurance Commissioner and Senator, 2012 is looking disastrous for the state GOP and boring for the rest of us.
Polling Goodness
Maybe Herman Cain will be the Republican nominee. The Quinnipiac poll finds Herman Cain still leading the Republican presidential field nationally with 30%, followed by Mitt Romney with 23%, Newt Gingrich with 10% and Rick Perry with 8%. No other candidate tops 7 percent. More importantly, Cain leads a head-to-head race with Romney among Republican voters, 47% to 39%, “coming close to the critical 50% mark, even though more Republicans think Romney has the knowledge and experience to be president.” But that’s not all… so much polling goodness inside….
Progressive Planner: The Week Ahead
Here is the calendar of events for the rest of the this week and next. I would like to especially highlight tonight’s Progressive Democrats for Delaware’s meeting and this weekend’s commencement of Occupy Delaware. I have also highlighted Mitch Crane’s fundraiser, as I think it is important that we support him early and often. But it is also important for progressives to go to RD meetings. That is where you, as a Progressive, can be most effective in both shaping your state party and your state government.

It would seem that all of us are busy at work today, so I apologize for the lack of posts this morning.
Question of the Day
In case you were unaware of the earth stopping news that an attention starved pseudo-celebrity with no discernable skills or societal worth named Kim Kardashian was getting a divorce 72 days after she married to more fanfare than the Royal Wedding, well than, now you know. Since this topic is trending planet-wide on Twitter… Name things that are longer than a Kim Kardashian marriage.

Happy Halloween! And what would Halloween be in Delaware without a tribute to our favorite witch, Christine O’Donnell.
Delaware-centric beer?
Dogfish Head is releasing a new beer with “deep Delaware roots.” This is so important that Governor Markell will be on hand at the announcement. So our dear readers, what will a Delaware centric beer taste like?
