Rethug Legislators Don’t Know What To Do On Emergency Spending. I guess the good news is that only McConnell peddles the ‘let the states go bankrupt’ route.

For-Profit Chain Bought Rural Hospitals And Shut ‘Em Down–Just In Time For the Pandemic.  In cases like these, ‘for-profit’ means squeezing every last nickel they can out of the facilities, then abandoning them. It’s the same with nursing homes.

FEMA Stole Masks From The VA. Vets and their families will just love that.  Is it fake news when the head of the VA says it?:

“I had 5 million masks incoming that disappeared,” said Richard Stone, executive in charge of the sprawling Veterans Health Administration. He acknowledged that he’s been forced to move to “austerity levels” at some hospitals.

Stone said the Federal Emergency Management Agency directed vendors with equipment on order from VA to instead send it to FEMA to replenish the government’s rapidly depleting emergency stockpile.

Everything Falls Apart, Ctd.  Global. US.  The latest carnage: 939,249 confirmed cases and 53,934 deaths in the US. That’s another 2000 deaths yesterday. Even I thought we’d be leveling off now. I was wrong. Hey, at least you can get your nails done in Broken Arrow, OK, and you don’t have to wear a mask.

A nail salon in Broken Arrow, Okla., was among the business that was allowed to reopen on Friday.

Trump Organization Seeks Bailouts From UK And Ireland For Struggling Golf Resorts.  Looks like they’re getting some relief, too, although nobody’s talking.

Chris’ Cocktail Buddy About To Get The Boot?  Yes, Azar sucks, but it looks like the White House is PO’d that it leaked out that he had warned them of the pandemic months ago, and they did nothing. Which is why they want him gone.

Amazon’s Blatant Anti-Trust Practices Continue Unabated.  If Trump was a real President,  he could effectively push back against this behemoth.  But, he’s got a bug up his ass against Bezos, and that’s just not enough.

Utah Bought Trump’s ‘Miracle Cure’, Now Wants Money Back.  And, yes, political connections had a lot to do with the purchase.

America’s Richest Feast Off The Pandemic.  Another great piece from The Guardian.  Seriously, this is a reader-funded operation, and it is doing some of the best investigative work anywhere.  Support it.

The Future For Oil Is Bleak.  Gotta admit, I don’t like the Russian idea of ‘burning off’ surplus, though.  Interesting read from Reuters.

Finally, Carney Mandates Masks.  Don’t know what took him so long. Don’t leave home without it.

What do you want to talk about?

There will be no leveling off until a real lockdown happens for multiple weeks. Literally our only hope is a VERY fast uptick in Georgia and Vegas to prove these fucking Branch COVIDians are nothing more than a death cult.

    • Paul says:

We have a very fast uptick, but it is right here in Sussex County. 400 new deaths announced at noon today. Facemasks and I would add eye protection, face plate.

Reading the comments from sites like WBOC are just disgusting. I don’t even know why I go to this for news, but sometimes in Slower Lower Delaware you just have to tolerate what you have.

    • Jim C says:

I read the comments on the WBOC article, a bunch of incredibly stupid ones. I read a LOT of stories during each day; whenever I run across one of the REALLY idiotic comments, I’ll reply. “Ooh, looks like someone hasn’t taken his/her Lysol injection today. Or, perhaps they have!”

  3. Ben says:

so is the plan to totally ignore the Biden rape charges? because i have some bad news about that plan. ‘
There will be more. there are always more. always.
    always.

flush him now before it’s too late.

    • I’ve mentioned it twice in the past week or so.

Yours is the first response I’ve gotten. Am I concerned about it/him? Yes.

      • Ben says:

        my mistake for missing it.
I get the feeling everyone is holding out, hoping this is a Project Veritas concoction…. I doubt it. It has the same “no way people let this work” stink on it that Her Emails did.
It feels like a bullet traveling really slowly and people get mad at you (in some places) for asking if there is a plan for the bullet.

      • Alby says:

Why? Will you not vote for him? How about you, Ben?

Who exactly is going to be dissuaded from voting against Trump because of this?

    • Paul says:

Will Biden benefit from the twin threats? This issue will be tough for Democrats to navigate, however voters or pundits move it. Remember Kavanaugh got off.

      • Alby says:

I simply ask the same question of anyone who brings it up: Will it prevent you from voting for Biden and against Trump? If so, why?

The issue is being boosted mainly by Bernie people and others who don’t want Biden as the nominee. It won’t derail him and he’ll be the nominee anyway, so….Who Are You Going to Vote For?

        It changes nothing.

        • Ben says:

          Fox news is Bernie people?
But you’re proving my point, alby. Dealing with it in this manner is a and move. You’ll see.

          • Alby says:

            No, you’ll see.

Fox News influences how Trump-haters vote? Since when?

For the thousandth time, get off the ledge. Once you do, explain to me who changes his or her vote because of this. C’mon, stop gibbering and think.

  4. puck says:

From now on every male candidate will have to deal with submarine rape allegations. #metoooverreach #unintendedconsequences

    • Nancy Willing says:

I don’t see this from Biden but welcome an investigation FWIW.

I can’t help thinking of the kind of mischief that was likely being cooked up to fry Biden after knocking off Bork in ’87 but especially after he allowed Hill to testify about Thomas in ’91. These allegations followed in ’93. So call me skeptical.

      • Ben says:

So we’re saying Tara Reade is making it up? Just tell me what the party line is so i can repeat it while i flush my dignity in the voting booth for a second election in a row..

        • Nancy Willing says:

uhm, plain English ‘n all, did I say she was making it up? I said I am skeptical and that I welcomed an investigation. You are really an ass hole.

        • Alby says:

Yes, I believe that an open Russia-loving Putin fan is making it up. The phone call to Larry King carries no allegation at all. She never said a word at the height of #metoo. She filed her criminal complaint the day after Bernie dropped out. It’s an obvious set-up.

I don’t do party lines, and if you’re not bright enough to do anything but blubber I really don’t give a fuck. Your vote isn’t needed, but I gather you’ll vote for Biden anyway, thus proving my point.

There are 99 reasons to dislike Biden as the nominee, and this ain’t one of them. But it is the last-ditch effort of the Bernie bunch.

          • I don’t take it that way, and it’s not why I brought it up.

I think that victims of sexual violence wouldn’t be as dismissive of this as you are.

To me, and I’m not a Bernie Bro, the issue is whether, if true, the Democratic Party should have a sexual predator as its candidate.

The ‘if true’ is, of course, paramount. Of course, virtually nobody will switch to Trump, who is the poster boy for sexual predators.

But, hey, I’d rather vote for Al Franken, who was drummed out of the Senate for behavior that was far less onerous than what has been alleged by Tara Reade.

            • Alby says:

Yes, most Democrats, even those who supported his nomination, have someone they’d rather vote for, but that’s not on offer. And, again demonstrating my point, you’ll vote for Biden. Everyone will except victims of sexual violence.

I’m not dismissive of sexual violence. I’m dismissive of the belief that this will in any way hamper Biden’s candidacy. The only way it will is if people give it oxygen.

He has denied it and called for an investigation. To do more would give it the oxygen his opponents seek.

              Tell me where I’m wrong.

  5. Cathy says:

In your opinion, which candidate is the worse sexual predator? Timing isn’t good on the arrival of this story, looks political to me. We’re going to see ALL manner of destructive torpedos hurled at Biden. With 40 years in office, lots of fodder. Get used to genuinely ugly, nasty GOP political warfare and realize your choices here- really, which side is worse? This is a tooth and nail fight for anything we’ve been accustomed to – or it’s gone.

    • Alby says:

I agree. Biden’s creepiness was well-known and primary voters still thought he was the best bet to defeat Trump.

    • Story’s been around for awhile, but of course has gotten a little more traction b/c Biden is the nominee. Al’s right, I’ll vote for Biden.

To me, the issue isn’t who is the worst sexual predator. The issue is should the Democratic Party have a sexual predator as its standard-bearer. Right now, there is no proof at all that Biden is a sexual predator.

But there is at least some evidence that there’s more to the story than what has emerged. That’s why I don’t dismiss it.

      • Alby says:

I think it’s a bigger deal that the Democratic Party has a nominee who’s going to repeat all the neoliberal mistakes of the past 30 years.

I really don’t care if the Democrats look like hypocrites about sexual predation. They already proved that with Bill Clinton, so asked and answered. They’re hypocrites, and the other party is fascist. Apples and hand grenades.
